Encompass Health is seeking a Nurse Extern to support our inpatient rehabilitation team. In this role, you'll work under the supervision of licensed nurses to provide direct patient care, including vital signs, hygiene, mobility support, and documentation. You'll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to help patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries regain function and independence. This position offers hands-on clinical exposure in a patient-centered, team-oriented environment with strong mentorship and opportunities to grow toward an RN role and future leadership within Encompass Health. Responsibilities Provide basic bedside care including hygiene, comfort measures, and mobility assistance under RN supervision Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, and patient observations in the EMRAssist with rehabilitation-focused activities to support patients' functional recovery Support safe patient transfers, positioning, and use of mobility equipment Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA standards at all times Communicate changes in patient status promptly to the supervising nurse Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans Participate in learning opportunities, mentorship, and skills development toward an RN role Required Skills Vital signs monitoring Basic patient care Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Infection control procedures Patient mobility and safe transfer techniques Rehabilitation therapy support Specimen collection Patient observation and reporting Basic wound care assistance HIPAA compliance
