We are seeking a detail-oriented MDS Nurse who is ready to lead out interdisciplinary team and maintain out top-tier outcomes.
Summary:
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, develop and direct the overall operation of our Reimbursement Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and or other staff as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Participate in the admission process of prospective residents in terms of their nursing needs and appropriate placement Determine potential Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs) Review all applications for admission, communicate results of assessment to the Admission Coordinator Complete and assure the accuracy of the MDS process for all residents, initiate and complete admission care plan Maintain current working knowledge of Medicare criteria, serving as a resource for nursing staff and communicate changes in regulations Monitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores, looking for potential risks and/or changes that may affect Medicaid reimbursement Facilitate problem-solving for complicated admissions Monitor Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission Weekly UR meetings/Risk meetings a scheduled ICD 10 coding Managed care updates as needed Staff Inservice as needed for accurate ADL/Nursing documentation Work hand in hand with therapy department
Qualifications:
Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a health care facility. Education and / or
Experiences:
Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
Working Conditions:
Works in office areas as well as throughout the nursing service area, (drug rooms, nurses' stations, resident rooms, etc.)
Moves intermittently during working hours
Is subject to frequent interruptions
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies / personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors
Communications with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors
Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
Is involved in community / civic health matters / projects as appropriate
Attends and participates in continuing educational programs
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminates
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc.
to adequately plan for the resident's needs
Physical & Sensory Requirements:
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
Must be able to speak and write the English Language in an understandable manner
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at time hostile people in the facility
Must be able to push, pull, move and / or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and / or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
