The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a member of the health care team and provides nursing care to patients under the direction of a provider or assigned supervisor. The RN assesses patient needs, provides and documents nursing interventions, administers medications and treatments, assists providers with patient care, provides patient education, and supports continuity and coordination of care. The RN works collaboratively with providers and other members of the health care team to promote safe, efficient, and quality patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current, unrestricted Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse (RN). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, and procedures. Ability to assess patients and recognize and respond appropriately to changes in condition or emergency situations. Ability to safely perform nursing procedures and administer medications and immunizations within scope of practice. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide appropriate patient education and clearly communicate care instructions. Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and support efficient patient flow.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtains and documents patient histories, vital signs, symptoms, preventive health needs, and other information necessary to assist with patient assessment and care. Provides nursing care in accordance with provider orders, established standards of care, organizational policies and procedures, and applicable scope-of-practice requirements. Administers medications, immunizations, treatments, and other nursing interventions safely and accurately. Performs clinical procedures and technical skills within scope of practice, including EKGs, wound care, pulmonary treatments, and other ordered services. Assists providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and other patientcare activities. Recognizes changes in patient condition and responds appropriately, including during emergency situations. Documents assessments, provider orders, nursing interventions, treatments, patient education, and followup instructions accurately and timely in the patient record. Provides patient and family education based on identified needs, provider direction, and established standards of care. Responds to patient messages, refill requests, provider communications, referrals, and other carecoordination needs in a timely and professional manner. Collaborates with providers, pharmacies, outside health care agencies, and other members of the health care team to promote continuity of care. Assists with management of patient schedules, clinic workflow, and efficient patient flow. Performs laboratory testing and ensures proper collection, handling, labeling, and processing of specimens in accordance with organizational policies and applicable CLIA requirements. Follows established infection prevention, OSHA, safety, and emergency procedures. Maintains appropriate clinical supplies, medications, immunizations, equipment, instruments, forms, and examroom inventory. Protects patient confidentiality and maintains medical records in accordance with organizational policies and applicable HIPAA and other legal requirements. Participates in quality improvement activities, required training, departmental meetings, and organizational initiatives. Assists with orientation, training, and support of nursing staff as assigned. Demonstrates effective teamwork, professionalism, and commitment to quality patient care. Demonstrates competency in providing ageappropriate care to the patient populations served. Performs other duties as assigned.
