Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Health Services Assistant reports to the H&W Services Manager and is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, coordinating, promoting, and facilitating programs and events including educational workshops, health screenings, and vaccination clinics for tribal citizens and staff. This position will be expected to handle highly sensitive, confidential, medical, and political issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

H&W Services Manager:
Assists in designing and delivering public health related projects and activities for Tribal Citizens and staff. Serves as a point of contact for Tribal Citizens who need assistance navigating the health care system. Assists in coordinating care with primary therapists, medical staff, and other community-based providers. Assists in ensuring comprehensive discharge/transition planning and development of aftercare plans. Assists in completing thorough and timely documentation and accurate medical records. Prioritizes and monitors workflow; seeks confirmation and clarifying information and ensures department leadership is aware in advance when deadlines cannot be met.
  • Prepares letters, memoranda, reports, and other documents from draft input, proofreads and edits documents with close attention to detail (language, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc.
). Professionally answers phones and interacts with internal staff and outside visitors; takes appropriate and accurate information/messages. Ensures information/messages are relayed appropriately (written form, email, text etc.). Provides direct assistance to tribal citizens, their families, and the tribal community.
  • Drafts edits and updates already developed policies and procedures and once approved, ensures they are implemented appropriately. Updates old forms to a new standardized layout and creates new forms for use in the new format.
  • Provides notice of meetings, events, and other obligations, provides follow-ups and reminders to staff and tribal citizens as required.
  • Verifies and enters Explanation of Benefits (EOB) data into EOB database and submits to H&W Services Manager for processing.
  • Assists in reviewing, follow up, researching, and resolving pending claims.
  • Assists in researching medical/behavioral health/dental/vision facilities.
  • Provides administrative and technical support to H&W Service Manager.
  • Assists in maintaining information and documents in citizen's files, physical and electronic files, and database(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Experience and/or Education One to three years of related experience and/or training; Associate's degree (A.A.); or equivalent combination of experience and education. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Individuals must be able to successfully pass the Tribal Gaming Agency (TGA) Background Check. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is satisfactory to the Tribe's insurance carrier. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

From $24.00 per hour
