Job Description

Job Overview:
A Front Desk Receptionist in a medical office is the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This role involves managing the front desk, providing excellent customer service, and handling various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the medical office.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Check-In and Check-Out:
Welcome and greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details. Schedule appointments and update patient records. 2.)
Telephone and Email Communication:
Answer phone calls, route inquiries, and provide information to callers. Respond to emails and messages promptly and professionally. 3.)
Appointment Scheduling:
Coordinate and schedule patient appointments efficiently. Manage the appointment calendar and make any necessary adjustments. 4.)
Insurance Verification:
Verify patient insurance information and eligibility. Explain insurance coverage and payment processes to patients. 5.)
Cash Handling and Billing:
Collect co-payments and process payments accurately. Handle billing inquiries and provide basic financial information to patients. 6.)
Maintain Reception Area:
Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and presentable. Manage patient flow and address any waiting time concerns. 7.)
Medical Records Management:
Assist in maintaining and updating patient records. Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information. 8.)
Communication Liaison:
Relay messages and information between patients and healthcare providers. Collaborate with other office staff to coordinate patient care. 9.)
Problem Resolution:
Address patient concerns, resolve issues, or escalate as needed. Handle difficult situations with professionalism and empathy. 10.)
Administrative Support:
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry. Coordinate with other administrative and clinical staff to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a receptionist, preferably in a medical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in using office equipment and basic computer software. Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Working Conditions:
Front Desk Receptionists in medical offices typically work in a professional office environment. The role involves a combination of sitting, standing, and using a computer. The work schedule may include regular business hours, and occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
