Day (United States of America) Under the direction of the Practice Manager, is responsible for patient scheduling, pre-registration , insurance authorization and precertification for the scheduled services.
Compensation Pay Range:
$22.20

75 ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS 1
  • Books appointments for services at South Shore Hospital (SSH). Booking may be done with the patient, physician or physician staff and may be done by telephone or fax. a
  • Is able to re-schedule/cancel patients in the computer, if required. b
  • Will insure that patient has an understanding of test and any preps that are necessary. c
  • Is efficient using

  • Schedules for most departments within the hospital according to hospital standards. e
  • Schedule off site appointments for wound clinic, Stetson and 780 Main treatment rooms. f
  • Pre register all patients for scheduled appointments g
  • Able to run and work off of applicable reports. h
  • Provide quality customer service to internal and external customers. 2
  • Responsible for all pre-certification,eligibility and verification of benefits on all accounts. a
  • Insures that all accounts are processed with less than 5 denials per year. b
  • Can follow downtime process effectively. c
  • Retrieves authorizations as necessary d
  • Interacts with provider office/insurance companies for the authorization process e
  • Verifies all insurance eligibility according to hospital standard 3
  • Can register meeting the department standard of 98% accuracy rate. a
  • Verify demographic information on all patients b
  • Pre register all patients that call for scheduled appointments c
  • Ensure that all necessary information is obtained from the patient 4
  • Technology

  • Able to function using department computer programs. b
  • Able to function and have a complete understanding of computer downtime process. c
  • Able to review and analyze NEHEN and Passport programs. d
  • Manage own API system. e
  • Able to utilize the phone system, including VERA system. 5

  • Adheres to patient identification policies/procedures. b
  • Adheres to universal precautions and respiratory etiquette guidelines. c
  • Understands individual roles/responsibilities during hospital codes (e.
g. Code Disaster, Code Red).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
  • Preferred Associates degree preferred.
Life experiences considered Minimum Work Experience 2-5 years experience in Patient Registration, Billing dept., Scheduling dept., or MD offices. Required additional Knowledge, and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology. Telephone experience required. Strong Computer Skills Customer Service experience required. Insurance Third party requirements. Ability to work under pressure. Works independently/make decisions on their own. Can function as part of a team.
