Patient Accounts & Medical Billing Clerk

Job Description

Okeene Medical Clinic is seeking a detail-oriented, organized Patient Accounts Clerk to join our business office team. In this role, you will play a vital part in our facility's financial health by processing patient accounts, managing insurance claims, and resolving account balances.
What You'll Do:
Insurance Processing:
Process the insurance component of patient accounts using third-party claims rules and ensure all claims are billed appropriately.
Denial Recovery:
Follow up on denied or unpaid claims by performing standard appeals and recovery procedures to resolve outstanding accounts.
Credit & Refund Management:
Analyze and resolve credit balances on patient accounts, and respond directly to refund request letters from insurance carriers.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the billing team, clinical staff, and insurance companies to ensure accurate account resolution. Perform other administrative office duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required:
Strong keyboarding and accurate data entry skills.
Key Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team in a focused office setting.
Work Schedule:
Status:
Full-Time, Monday through Friday (Day shift).
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a desk-based, clerical position requiring frequent sitting, keyboard use, and data entry. Frequent use of hearing and clear speech to communicate with insurance carriers and patients over the phone. Occasional walking, standing, bending, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs., such as office supplies or paper files).
