1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with experience in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting for a 13-week day shift assignment covering a full-service acute care respiratory therapy department including ER, med-surg, NICU, and outpatient services. Details Acute care setting at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Respiratory Therapy department covering the ER, med-surg, NICU, and outpatient clinic services including pediatric nasal suction, Holter monitors, and EKGs Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics, including ski and cycling trauma cases Typically 4-6 patient interactions per shift; ER volume is variable One RT on per shift — traveler may be the only RT in-house Equipment includes Drager ventilators and Hamilton transport vents
EMR:
Epic 12-hour day shifts, 6am-6pm Self-scheduling with central scheduler support; no blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated Every other weekend required, sometimes less Holiday coverage required on an as-needed basis Floating within the hospital and to outpatient/clinic areas for RRT response Requirements RRT credential required Current certifications required:
BLS, ACLS, NRP
(through AAOP), PALS, and STABLE Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar CAH setting NICU and delivery room experience required, in addition to adult experience Experience with ABG draw and analysis, BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management, EKGs, and intubation assist Ability to perform all RT interventions for neonates including LMAs Must be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting, advocating for patients, and managing time effectively State license required if applicable; must be active — pending licensure not accepted Driver's license required for consideration 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Additional Information Daily duties include ABG draws and analysis, breathing treatments, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care and transfer prep, EKGs, and assisting with intubations and neonatal RT interventions Reports directly to the RT manager, who is on-site Monday-Friday during daytime hours; charge RTs at two sister hospitals are available as resources, and the manager provides phone support after hours as needed 2-3 shifts of department-specific orientation provided, depending on experience First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former permanent employees of this facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible Clean scrubs in any color are acceptable All certifications must be active and copies must be provided — pending certifications are not accepted
