(APS) Independent Contractor / 1099 | Part-Time / As-Needed San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles & Orange Counties Actualize Psychological Services, Inc. (APS) is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team as an independent assessment contractor. This position is specifically for speech and language evaluations and assessments completed on behalf of school districts and for Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs). This is not a direct therapy or ongoing service position. Work is offered on an as-needed, referral-based basis and will vary depending on district and private evaluation referrals. There are no guaranteed weekly hours or consistent caseload. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced SLP who is looking for part-time, supplemental, or additional professional income alongside a current school district position, private practice, or other employment. APS provides educational and psychological assessment services throughout Southern California. Our clinicians work collaboratively with families, school districts, and multidisciplinary professionals to provide comprehensive, high-quality, and defensible evaluations. Responsibilities The SLP contractor will primarily be responsible for completing comprehensive speech and language evaluations.

Responsibilities may include:

Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments for preschool, school-aged children, and adolescents. Complete assessments referred by school districts and Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs). Assess areas such as receptive and expressive language, articulation and phonology, pragmatic/social communication, fluency, voice, and other areas of communication as appropriate to the referral question. Review educational records, prior evaluations, IEPs, developmental history, teacher information, parent input, and other relevant documentation. Select and administer appropriate standardized and nonstandardized assessment measures. Conduct observations, interviews, and other assessment procedures when appropriate. Score, interpret, and integrate assessment results. Prepare comprehensive, professional, educationally relevant, and defensible written evaluation reports. Develop appropriate recommendations based on assessment findings. Present and explain assessment results to parents, school personnel, and multidisciplinary teams. Attend IEP, IEE, eligibility, or other educational meetings when required as part of the evaluation. Collaborate with APS psychologists, other APS evaluators, district personnel, teachers, related-service providers, administrators, and families. Communicate regularly with APS staff regarding evaluation timelines, scheduling, records, and case status. Maintain accurate documentation and complete evaluations within established timelines. Travel to schools, homes, offices, or other agreed-upon assessment locations throughout the assigned geographic area. Geographic Area Contractors must be willing and able to travel throughout portions of: San Bernardino County Riverside County Los Angeles County Orange County Assignments are offered based on referral location, contractor availability, expertise, and travel preferences whenever possible. Because evaluations may occur at different school sites or locations throughout Southern California, reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field. Current and unrestricted California Speech-Language Pathologist license. Experience conducting comprehensive speech and language assessments. Experience working with school-aged children and/or within educational settings. Strong understanding of speech-language development and communication disorders. Excellent assessment, scoring, interpretation, and report-writing skills. Ability to write comprehensive and professionally defensible evaluation reports. Strong verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate assessment findings effectively with families and school-based multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with APS and district personnel. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to meet established assessment and report deadlines. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Willingness to travel throughout San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles, and/or Orange Counties. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, preferably in school-based assessment, special education, or related educational settings. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). California school-based credential/authorization. Previous school district or special education assessment experience. Experience participating in IEP and eligibility meetings. Knowledge of IDEA and California special education eligibility requirements. Experience conducting Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs). Experience assessing students with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, and complex communication needs. Experience evaluating pragmatic/social communication. AAC assessment experience. Bilingual Spanish/English skills are highly desirable but not required. Contract Structure This is a 1099 independent contractor position. This is not a full-time position and does not include guaranteed hours or a guaranteed caseload. Assessment referrals are offered based on current APS and school district needs. The number of available cases may fluctuate throughout the year. Contractors may accept assignments based on their availability, geographic preferences, and areas of expertise. This opportunity may be especially well suited for: School-based SLPs seeking supplemental income. SLPs with an existing private practice. Retired or semi-retired school-based SLPs. SLPs seeking occasional assessment work. Clinicians interested in expanding into Independent Educational Evaluations.
