Full Job Description Position Title:

Speech-Language Pathologist (Pediatric / Neurodiversity-Affirming)

San Carlos, CA (In-Clinic & Reasonable Driving Distance for Home/Community Visits)

Position Type:

Part-Time to Start (Ramping to Full-Time based on client caseload growth and SLP interest)

Pediatric & Early Childhood (Must feel confident with ages 2-8 minimum; opportunities to work across age ranges)

We are a collaborative, multidisciplinary practice in San Carlos dedicated to providing authentic, neurodiversity-affirming evaluations and care for children and families. Grounded in play, warmth, and respect, we look at the whole child—how they think, learn, communicate, manage emotions, build relationships, and process the world around them. As our collective expands from specialized neurodevelopmental evaluations into direct therapeutic care, we are looking for a passionate, play-based SLP to join our growing team.

The Role:

We are seeking a confident, creative, and play-based Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. You must feel highly skilled and confident in working with young neurodivergent children (specifically ages 2-8 minimum), with opportunities to support older kids depending on your clinical interests. You will join an environment that rejects compliance-based modalities and instead prioritizes connection, self-advocacy, authentic communication, and joy. This role is centered in our San Carlos office, with opportunities to provide in-person services in local client homes or community settings within a reasonable driving distance. For clinicians who have an interest in leadership or program design, there are optional opportunities to help shape and grow the speech-language therapy branch of our practice as we expand!

Multidisciplinary Evaluation Opportunities:

A key collaborative highlight of this practice is participating in multidisciplinary evaluations. Currently, you will have the opportunity to collaborate directly alongside a Licensed Clinical Psychologist to conduct joint, real-time assessments. As our collective grows, we plan to expand these joint evaluations across other disciplines (such as OT and education) to provide families with truly integrated, whole-child evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 play-based, neurodiversity-affirming speech and language therapy across pediatric populations. Support autistic children and Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) / Gestalt Language Processors through all stages of language development. Implement declarative language and relationship-based communication frameworks. Evaluate and support high- and low-tech AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) systems as appropriate. Conduct dynamic speech and language evaluations using play-based observation, as well as joint multidisciplinary evaluations with a Clinical Psychologist. Provide parent coaching and collaborate closely with families, educators, and clinic colleagues. Travel locally to client homes or community spaces within a reasonable driving distance from the clinic. (Optional) Help shape and grow the speech-language branch of the collective if aligned with your professional goals.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Licensure:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology; active California state license (SLP) and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). Must be fully licensed to practice independently in the State of California.

Clinical Focus:

Proven clinical competence working with young children in the ages 2-8 range minimum (autism, developmental differences, language delays).

Gestalt & Declarative Language:

Practical experience or strong background in Gestalt Language Processing (GLP / NLA) and Declarative Language approaches.

AAC Experience:

AAC experience preferred, but not required.

Demonstrated commitment to neurodiversity-affirming practice (unmasking support, child-led play, sensory regulation integrated into communication).

Multidisciplinary Interest:

Willingness to participate in joint multidisciplinary evaluations (currently with a Clinical Psychologist, with plans to expand into other disciplines).

Flexibility:

Willingness to start part-time and build toward full-time as caseload demands increase and based on your own interest.

Travel:

Willingness to provide in-person therapy at our San Carlos office and travel within a reasonable driving distance for home/community sessions.
