Job Description

Step into a valuable contract opportunity supporting students PreK-12 as a speech-language pathologist in an engaging school environment near South Amboy, NJ. This in-person role provides coverage for a medical leave, with the potential for extension through the end of the semester. You'll build meaningful connections with a diverse caseload of approximately 40 students, contributing to their success and communication skills every day. Your role will focus on direct therapy services, evaluations, and collaboration with teachers and families. Experience with nonverbal students and comfort utilizing low-tech AAC devices will serve you well in this assignment. If selected, you'll also have the benefit of shadowing the current SLP before the official start, ensuring a seamless transition for both you and the students.
Qualifications:
Active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) New Jersey Department of Education Speech-Language Specialist certification Previous experience in a school-based setting Experience working with AAC devices (especially low-tech solutions) strongly preferred Confidence supporting a caseload including some nonverbal students Strong communication and collaboration skills Available for in-person work (no teletherapy options for this position)
Responsibilities:
Deliver speech and language therapy for students in grades PreK-12 Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans Coordinate and consult with teachers, specialists, and parents Document progress and participate in IEP meetings Adapt interventions for students with varying communication methods This contract begins October 1, 2026, and is anticipated through November 20, 2026, with possible extension. There is potential to start sooner to shadow and ensure a smooth handover of caseload responsibilities.
