Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive speech and language assessment, intervention, and consultation services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Working as part of a collaborative educational team, the Speech-Language Pathologist supports students' communication development and academic success through individualized therapy, evaluations, and consultation with families and staff. This position plays an essential role in helping students achieve their communication goals while promoting an inclusive and language-rich learning environment. What You'll DoStudent Assessment & Therapy Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on student needs and IEP goals. Plan, schedule, deliver, and evaluate educationally related speech-language therapy services. Complete initial evaluations, annual reviews, and reevaluations in accordance with federal and New York State regulations. Monitor student progress and maintain daily therapy notes and quarterly progress reports using the school's IEP management system. Prepare annual progress reports and recommendations as needed. IEP & Educational Collaboration Participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) using Frontline. Attend CSE meetings and present evaluation findings and recommendations regarding speech-language services. Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and administrators to support student progress. Assist with transition planning as students move between educational levels. Consult with outside therapists and agencies regarding student services when appropriate. Communication & Family Support Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and therapy plans. Utilize each student's preferred mode of communication, including American Sign Language (ASL), spoken English, and AAC systems, as appropriate. Support communication access for students throughout the school environment. Documentation & Program Support Maintain accurate attendance records and required documentation using Frontline. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and school documentation requirements. Order, organize, and maintain therapy materials, assessments, and departmental equipment. Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school improvement initiatives. QualificationsRequired Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. New York State license and certification (or eligibility) as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, or a strong interest in serving this population. Ability to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn and demonstrate ongoing proficiency. Excellent organizational, documentation, and time management skills. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience maintaining accurate data and reports. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency with Google Workspace and the ability to learn school-based technology systems, including Frontline. $51,787.44 - $104,154.24 per year
