Developmental Specialist - Temporary

Job Description

The mission of the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood is to EMPOWER individuals with developmental disabilities to ENGAGE in activities that ENRICH their lives and contribute to their community. Community members, local organizations, businesses, County Board employees, as well as the individuals we serve and their families, help us succeed in carrying out our mission. Our Agency is looking for a Developmental Specialist (Temporary from 1/13/27 to 4/14/27). Essential Job Duties (not all inclusive):
  • Performs developmental evaluations/assessments in the home or in community settings to determine a child's eligibility and need for services. Conducts on-going evaluations of a child's growth and development.
  • Functions as the Primary Service Provider (PSP), participates in development and subsequent reviews of the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP), assists families in writing functional outcomes, focuses intervention services to meet the parent's priorities, needs, and interests.
  • Provides on-going home-based services to address the strengths and developmental needs of enrolled children, as listed on their IFSP. Implements systematic instructional procedures and methodologies within an appropriate curriculum for infants and toddlers, based on identified needs and individual learning characteristics.
  • Participates in the evaluation team process to provide input and review/update the child and family outcomes.
  • Provides parent support and consultation on an ongoing basis to increase family member's competence and confidence in enhancing their child's developmental skills.
  • Communicates with various agencies and professionals who are working with the families.
  • Participates in training and staff programs such as in-service days, staff development training, staff meetings, and specialized programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  • License in counseling; early childhood education for ages 3 through 8 years, grades kindergarten through third, or special education; hearing impairment intervention; medicine; nursing; occupational therapy; physical therapy; psychology; psychiatry; social work; speech-language pathology; or visual impairment intervention and DODD Developmental Specialist Certification, renewal requirements as stated in Developmental Specialist Certification Standards Rule 5123-10-05 • Valid State of Ohio driver's license
