Job Description

Intermountain Health is seeking an Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and treatment for adults with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute care setting. You will complete comprehensive assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and document care using our EMR. Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation, and case management teams, you'll support safe discharge planning and educate patients and families. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive evaluation of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing for inpatient populations. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans and update goals based on patient progress. Document assessments, treatment sessions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehab staff, and case management on care plans and safe discharge recommendations. Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on communication and swallowing strategies. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care conferences and discharge planning. Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection prevention and safety procedures. Engage in professional development, quality improvement, and clinical best-practice initiatives within Intermountain Health. Required Skills Inpatient dysphagia assessment and management Speech, language, and cognitive-communication evaluation Treatment planning and documentation in EMRVideofluoroscopic swallow study interpretation (preferred) Interdisciplinary care coordination Patient and family education Acute and post-acute rehab protocols Evidence-based therapy techniques Goal setting and outcomes tracking Regulatory and hospital safety compliance
