Job Summary The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders in patients. Duties Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate speech and language abilities of patients. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on assessment results. Provide direct speech therapy services to children in various settings including schools and clinics. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies to support communication development at home. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex needs. Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes. Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in speech therapy and related fields. Skills Proficient understanding of medical terminology related to speech-language pathology. Experience or knowledge in early intervention techniques for young children. Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments to identify communication challenges. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to speech production and language processing.
