Job Description The Certified Sterile Processing Technician II supports safe, efficient surgical services by executing the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. This role requires strong technical expertise, adaptability, and strict adherence to regulatory, safety, and infection control standards while supporting multiple facilities as needed.
Execute the decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments in accordance with infection control standards, internal procedures, and manufacturer IFUs
Inspect, sort, assemble, and organize surgical instrument sets per count sheets and departmental standards
Prepare and package instrument trays using approved sterilization methods, including wraps and rigid containers
Operate sterile processing equipment including ultrasonic cleaners, washer-decontaminators, and cart washers
Maintain accurate logs and records to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
Identify, isolate, and escalate damaged, missing, or malfunctioning instruments and equipment
Prepare, deliver, and retrieve case carts and supplies to support surgical cases and procedural needs
Respond to real-time instrumentation and supply requests from operating room and clinical teams
Reprocess expired items and ensure proper labeling, tracking, and sterility integrity
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterile processing environment while rotating through assigned functional areas
Communicate workflow challenges, delays, or risks to leadership in a timely manner
Support team operations by serving as a resource and mentor to junior staff or new hires as needed
Transport instruments and materials using approved handling and delivery protocols Schedule & Work Environment
Minimum 35 hours/week guaranteed (flex to 40+ hours based on demand)
Flexible schedule aligned to facility needs
Overtime may be required (typically 5-10 hours/week during peak periods)
Expected range: 35-50 hours/week depending on volume
Travel may be required to support site coverage

3-5 + years of sterile processing experience o Includes roles such as SPD Technician, Lead Tech, SPD Liaison/Coordinator
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current HSPA or CBSPD certification
Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced hospital environments, with strong attention to compliance and documentation standards
