With offices across North Carolina, our Coastal region is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician to join the team. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director and OR Charge Nurse, the Sterile Processing Tech ensures proper care and maintenance of all surgical instrumentation, equipment, and sterilization processes. Demonstrates good knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic technique, equipment, instruments, procedures, and supplies used in the operating room. Able to work under pressure and in situations requiring patience, tact, and endurance. Provides ongoing communication with Operating Room staff and communicates special equipment needs. Monitors the daily schedule for changes in instrumentation, assists with room turnovers between surgical cases, and helps with preference card updates and case picking. Why Join EmergeOrtho? Qualifications and Experience High School graduate or GED. Certification preferred as CSPDT (CBSPD, or CRCST (IAHCSMM). 3 years previous experience in sterile processing preferred Ability to work well with people under deadlines and stress Ability to be flexible and take on new responsibilities Primary Job Duties Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Demonstrates proper decontamination, cleaning, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments. Maintains all instrument trays, ensuring completeness, stock, and good working order. Follows universal precautions and safe practices in handling biohazardous materials. Enters essential information into the computer system and completes required continuing education. Actively participates in process improvement activities within the Operating Room, identifying areas for patient care improvement and participating in cost containment efforts. Performs other duties as assigned.
