SURGICAL / DENTAL ASSISTANT (ORAL SURGERY) - 2+ YEARS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality chairside assistance during oral surgery procedures while helping create a safe, efficient, and comfortable experience for our patients. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with oral surgeons and gain experience in a wide range of procedures, including wisdom tooth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, biopsies, IV sedation, and other oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures . The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to excellent patient care and infection control. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures. Assist the surgeon during oral surgery procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Maintain effective suction and a clear surgical field throughout procedures. Set up and break down surgical operatories while following proper aseptic and sterilization protocols. Assist with procedures including wisdom tooth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, biopsies, and other oral surgery procedures. Take and record patient vital signs before, during, and after procedures. Assist with patient preparation and monitoring during IV sedation and other forms of anesthesia. Take dental radiographs and CBCT/3D imaging as needed. Maintain accurate and complete patient records in the practice management/EMR system. Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and sterilization protocols. Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment. Review and reinforce post-operative instructions with patients and their families. Provide compassionate and professional patient care before, during, and after procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment. Communicate effectively with doctors and other members of the clinical team to maintain an efficient daily workflow. Assist with front-office duties, patient communication, and scheduling when needed. Float between the front and back office as needed to support the overall practice. Perform other duties as assigned to support the oral surgery team. Qualifications & Experience Previous dental assisting experience preferred Oral surgery or surgical dental assisting experience is a plus. Experience with dental radiographs and/or CBCT is preferred. Familiarity with dental practice management systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus. Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection control. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional, dependable, and team-oriented. Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities. $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
