The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient care, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and possess strong clinical and communication skills. This role involves assisting the oral surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures while ensuring exceptional patient experiences from consultation through post-operative care.
Key Responsibilities:
Must be willing to travel between 3 office locations Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, biopsies, and other oral and maxillofacial surgeries. Prepare treatment rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment according to OSHA and infection control standards. Sterilize instruments and maintain operatory cleanliness. Seat and prepare patients for surgery, review medical histories, obtain vital signs, and answer patient questions. Provide preoperative and postoperative instructions to patients and caregivers. Monitor patient comfort before, during, and after procedures. Take and process digital radiographs and CBCT scans. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and charting in the practice management software. Manage surgical inventory and ensure supplies are adequately stocked. Assist with IV sedation procedures (where permitted by state regulations and certification). Respond to medical emergencies by following office protocols and maintaining current CPR certification. Collaborate with doctors and team members to provide outstanding patient care and ensure efficient clinical operations.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum 2 years of dental assisting experience EFDA Certification Current CPR/BLS certification Strong chairside assisting skills Excellent communication and organizational skills Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between three office locations Ability to work independently and adapt to different office teams Knowledge of OSHA and infection control standards
Preferred:
Experience in oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, or other dental specialties Experience with dental implants and surgical procedures Sedation monitoring certification (if applicable) Dental radiography certification Experience with CBCT imaging Experience with Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, or similar software
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary for assisting during surgical procedures.
