Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Surgical Assistant, where you will play a vital role in supporting dental and oral surgery procedures. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and surgical supplies according to infection prevention management protocols. Assist the dentist during surgical procedures, and ensuring all necessary tools and materials are readily available. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records using EMR systems such as DSN and documenting medical and dental information accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Monitor vital signs and provide patient care before, during, and after procedures, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Support dental equipment maintenance, including calibration of dental x-ray machines and operation of medical imaging devices. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and answer questions related to oral surgery or general dentistry procedures. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment with a focus on surgical assisting or chairside assisting is highly preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding is essential for accurate recordkeeping. Familiarity with EMR systems such as DSN, along with patient management software, enhances workflow efficiency. Knowledge of infection control standards, including dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention practices, is required. Strong understanding of anatomy related to oral surgery, pediatrics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry enhances your ability to assist effectively. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with the dental team and providing compassionate patient care are vital. Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training that includes X-ray certification or radiology training is advantageous. Pay:
$25.75 - $27.00 per hour
