Surgical Coordinator / Medical Office Administrative Assistant The Mount Sinai Hospital - 3.9 New York, NY Job Details Full-time $20.89 - $30.64 an hour 2 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications Spanish Heartsaver Certification BLS Certification High school diploma or GED Patient care Full Job Description The Surgical Coordinator / Medical Office Administrative Assistant provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates care of patients undergoing surgery. Assists patients in coordinating Radiology and laboratory studies. Coordinating consultations with other medical specialists such as cardiologists and gastroenterologists. Scheduling surgery with hospital operating room. 2. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Completing forms and requisitions as needed, managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. These responsibilities may be carried out using the electronic medical record (EMR) system or manually as necessary. 3. Enters data, orders, and clinical information into the electronic medical record (EMR) system 4. Communicate with patients and other medical professionals. Answering phone calls, appointment scheduling and registration for patients as well as updating patient demographic and insurance information. 5. Maintain, adjust and confirm patient office schedule. 6. Check and verify and update insurance information utilizing internal or web sources. 7. Perform and verify Insurance pre-certification for Surgery, Radiology, and other procedures 8. Checks expiration dates on all medications and medical supplies disposing appropriately as per institution policy. 9. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations. 10. This position is also ideal for pre-med, pre-nursing, or other pre-health professions. A 2 year commitment is preferred. 11. Spanish bilingual preferred.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred. Certificate of Medical Assistant training optional or equivalent experience Heartsaver Certification from American Heart Association and/or
BCLS Pay:
$20.89 - $30.64 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
