Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Oral Surgery Assistant to join our growing oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. This role is ideal for a candidate with prior oral surgery or dental surgical assisting experience who is comfortable supporting providers in a fast-paced clinical and surgical environment. The Oral Surgery Assistant plays a critical role in patient care by assisting surgeons during procedures, preparing surgical rooms, ensuring sterile technique, and supporting patients before, during, and after surgery. Experience with extractions, implants, IV sedation, and surgical procedures is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Assist oral surgeons during procedures including extractions, implants, bone grafting, biopsies, and other oral surgical treatments Prepare and turn over surgical rooms, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly sterilized and ready Assist with IV sedation and anesthesia monitoring (as trained), including patient preparation and post-operative recovery Monitor and document vital signs, medications, and procedural details in the patient record Maintain strict infection control and aseptic techniques in accordance with OSHA and practice protocols Provide chairside assistance , suctioning, retraction, instrument transfer, and suturing assistance as directed Educate patients on pre- and post-operative instructions , ensuring comfort and understanding Support patient flow and efficiency throughout the clinical day Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the practice management or EHR system Collaborate closely with surgeons, front office staff, and clinical team members to ensure an excellent patient experience Qualifications & Experience Prior oral surgery assisting experience strongly preferred (OMFS, dental surgical assisting, or advanced dental assisting background) Experience with IV sedation, surgical extractions, and implant procedures is highly desirable Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Knowledge of dental and oral anatomy, surgical instruments, and procedures Strong understanding of sterilization, infection control, and OSHA standards Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical practice Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused mindset Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-driven Why Join Us Work alongside experienced oral surgeons in a specialty practice Consistent surgical schedule Opportunity to utilize and grow advanced oral surgery skills Supportive, team-oriented environment focused on high-quality patient care
