Our team thrives on high-energy collaboration, advanced surgical technology, and a compassionate approach to patient health. We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Surgical Dental Assistant who excels in a busy clinical environment and wants to grow alongside a supportive team. As a Surgical Dental Assistant, you will work directly alongside our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons during complex procedures, including dental implant placement, wisdom tooth extractions, bone grafting, and pathology treatments. This is a highly specialized role requiring sharp critical thinking, a strong focus on patient safety, and seamless surgical assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
Sedation & Anesthesia Monitoring:
Assist the surgeon in monitoring patient vitals and airway management under IV sedation and general anesthesia.
Punctuality & Flow:
Arrive precisely on time for the 7:45 AM morning huddle to ensure a smooth, on-time daily schedule for our patients.
Time Management:
Seamlessly manage room turnovers, instrument sterilization, and patient preparation to keep a high-volume surgical schedule running efficiently.
Software & Documentation:
Accurately chart treatment details, update medical records, and manage patient files using DSN Software .
Patient Care & Education:
Prepare patients for surgery, review comprehensive medical histories, and deliver clear, empathetic post-operative care instructions to patients and families.
Sterilization & Infection Control:
Maintain a pristine clinical environment by strictly adhering to OSHA and CDC sterilization protocols for surgical trays, instruments, and operating suites.
Clinical Imaging:
Take precise digital dental radiographs, panoramic films, and CBCT 3D scans.
Qualifications & Experience Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of dental assisting experience required (prior experience in oral surgery or periodontics is strongly preferred).
Software:
Proficiency or experience with DSN Software is a plus.
Licensure:
Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license in the State of Texas is required.
Certifications:
Current BLS/CPR certification is required.
Preferred Credential:
DAANCE (Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination) certification is a huge plus (or a willingness to obtain it within the first year of employment).
