Overview Owns specific responsibilities for maintenance and policies for various responsibilities within the Operating Room. Takes direction from management of specific tasks to support operating rooms that are of the highest level of quality and safety, in meeting the needs of key doctors, surgeons, and other critical Operating Room. Responsibilities Sets up tables, instruments and supplies required for specific operation. Carries out surgical asepsis. Assists surgical team during operative procedure. Assists in the preparation for surgical procedures. Assists in the preoperative preparation of patients. Assists with table equipment, positioning of patients, application of plaster casts and dressings. Prepares operative specimens, places in preservative solution and delivers to Laboratory for analysis. Assists in transporting patients to and from the Operating Room, Recovery Room, and patient area. Assists in cleaning operating room, equipment and instruments following surgery. Cleans and stocks storage room. Prepares Operating Room for the next case or next day. Records data on patients' record data sheets and O.R. logs. Must rotate on call as required. Performs duties of Nursing Aide as requested, when O.R. is not busy. Performs other related duties as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications Education High School Diploma required. Experience One (1) to three (3) years of experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of problem solving and decision making skills. Working knowledge of digital literacy skills. Licenses & Certifications Grade 10: Two years' experience as an O.R.T. including successful completion of hospital sponsored self-instructional program in operating room technology as well as documented clinical hours; OR A Certified Operating Room Technician with six (6) months experience in operating room technology. Successful completion of a hospital-approved Nursing Aide Training Program. Successful completion of on-the-job training program in O.R. technique.
