Our facility specializes primarily in orthopedic/spine procedures and interventional pain management . The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, attentive to sterile technique, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. Experience with orthopedic or spine procedures is strongly preferred. Responsibilities The Surgical Scrub Technician will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to: Prepare the operating/procedure room prior to scheduled cases. Set up sterile instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications according to facility policy and procedure requirements. Perform appropriate surgical hand antisepsis, gowning, and gloving. Maintain the sterile field throughout procedures and immediately identify and correct breaks in sterile technique. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout each procedure. Pass instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment safely and efficiently. Assist with positioning, preparation, draping, and other perioperative activities within the scope of the position. Perform surgical counts in accordance with facility policy. Properly handle specimens, implants, sharps, and medications on the sterile field. Assist with turnover and preparation of the room between cases to maintain an efficient surgical schedule. Clean, inspect, assemble, package, and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization. Follow manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs) and facility policies related to instrument processing and sterilization. Monitor instruments and equipment for damage, malfunction, or needed repair and promptly report concerns. Maintain adequate surgical supplies and notify leadership when inventory needs to be reordered. Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, and facility safety requirements. Participate in required staff education, competency assessments, quality improvement activities, and safety initiatives. Work collaboratively and professionally with surgeons, anesthesia providers, registered nurses, radiology staff, and other members of the surgical team. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Administrator or clinical leadership. Qualifications Surgical Technologist/Scrub Technician training or equivalent applicable experience. Orthopedic and/or spine surgical experience strongly preferred. Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or operating room preferred. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile technique required. Knowledge of instrument cleaning, decontamination, packaging, and sterilization preferred. BLS certification required or must be obtained according to facility requirements. Surgical technologist certification (CST) preferred. Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient safety and attention to detail. Must demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, organization, and reliability. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, lift and move surgical equipment and supplies, and assist with patient positioning as needed. The employee must be able to perform the physical functions necessary to safely carry out operating room responsibilities. Schedule This is a daytime ambulatory surgery center position. Start and end times may vary based on the surgical schedule and daily caseload. Candidates must be able to report on time and remain available through completion of assigned cases and responsibilities.
