Surgical Technician - PRN

Job Description

Description:
The Surgery Technician provides superior patient care through surgery, procedures, and central supply activities. Will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the success of each surgery.
Duties:
Understands sterile technique and practices within
CST/AORN
guidelines in order to provide appropriate support for procedures and surgeries. Operates sterilizers, cold disinfection, sterrad and medivator according to AAMT standards to ensure equipment and tools are ready for the next use. Plans for upcoming surgeries/procedures to ensure needed supplies are available. Adheres to WAH safety practices per policy and procedures.. Provides cardiology stress testing in a backup capacity to provide patients with appropriate care and results.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum of graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
REQUIRED CREDENTIALS
(License, certification, registration): National AST Certification is preferred, but not required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Technical competencies in and knowledge of aseptic technique, operating room policies and procedures, equipment, supplies and instruments used in the operating room, along with policies and procedures related to terminal sterilization of supplies following surgery. Well-developed critical thinking skills. Highly developed communication skills to interact with patients, family and other health care members. Ability to have positive, professional interpersonal relationships with customers and colleagues. Skill in competently functioning in CSR/OR per WAH policy. Knowledge of appropriate age related patient care protocols relating to changing needs of the surgical patient.
EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES
Scheduled PRN (as needed).
Hours of work include:
Monday through Sunday, holidays, call and overtime to meet department needs. Locations where work is carried out include: OR's, procedure rooms, imaging and patient rooms.
