Job Description

Job Summary Southern Surgical Outpatient Surgery Center is seeking a skilled, dependable, and patient-focused Surgical Technologist to join our growing surgical team. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Southern Surgical is an accredited ambulatory surgery center specializing in laparoscopic general surgery, bariatric surgery, and plastic surgery . The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile field, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, and supporting the surgical team throughout each case. This position also assists with sterile processing, instrument reprocessing, and operating room turnover to help maintain an efficient surgical schedule. The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent attention to detail who thrives in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment and is committed to providing exceptional patient care. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms for scheduled procedures by ensuring all instruments, supplies, implants, and equipment are available and functioning properly. Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures. Assist surgeons by anticipating needs and passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently. Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse according to facility policy. Assist with patient positioning and preparation while maintaining patient safety and comfort. Clean, restock, and prepare operating rooms between surgical cases. Assist with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and organization of surgical supplies. Participate in maintaining inventory and notifying appropriate personnel of supply needs. Assist with sterile processing, including instrument decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, biological monitoring, and quality assurance in accordance with AAMI standards and facility policies. Handle surgical specimens according to facility policy. Follow all infection prevention, sterilization, and aseptic technique standards. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, registered nurses, and other members of the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient patient care. Support the daily operations of the surgery center and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred. Current BLS (CPR) certification required. Previous operating room experience preferred. Experience in laparoscopic general surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, or other outpatient surgical specialties preferred. Sterile Processing Department (SPD) experience or certification preferred. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, minimally invasive surgical equipment, sterile technique, sterilization processes, and infection prevention standards. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move equipment and supplies.
