With a dedicated team of board-certified ophthalmologists, optometrists, and extensive technical staff, the practice operates multiple clinics and outpatient surgery centers committed to delivering high-quality, comprehensive eye care services. Job Overview We are looking for a capable and self-assured Surgical Technician to join our surgical team in our private, outpatient surgery center. As a Surgical Technician, you will assist our surgeons, circulating registered nurses and other members of our operating room team. Our ideal candidate is a team-player who can complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The position's duties are highly variable, and the successful candidate must be alert, attentive, and able to maintain the operating room pace. This is a full-time position with no weekends, evenings, or holidays. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree in surgical technology or related field Completion of vocational certificate program in surgical technology Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology BLS Certification One-year previous experience Duties and Responsibilities Share responsibility with the Nursing team to ensure supplies for each case have been collected and readied Maintain the sterile field throughout surgical procedures Assist with patient draping Pass and retrieve surgical instruments during procedures Perform other tasks on or about the sterile as directed by the surgeon, anesthetist or circulating nurse Clean and sterilize all medical instruments and equipment at the end of each case and at the end of each day Check the autoclaves, runs attest and Bowie Dick's for required sterilizing wrapped items and maintain proper records Send broken and damaged instruments for repair, reordering as needed Clean and check all instruments routinely for lubrication or special processing Maintain sterile supplies, dated supplies, and re-sterilization Order all surgical supplies, restock as needed Skills and Abilities Able to monitor machines to ensure proper performance Able to coordinate tasks and actions within a team Excellent active listening and effective communication skills Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, reach, and twist Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull Must possess excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills Persistent arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity Working Environment Privately-owned surgical suite with two operating rooms Environment fast-paced Join our team to contribute directly to patient outcomes through precise technical support in a dynamic ophthalmology setting!
