Job Description
Category Nursing - CVOR Tech Job Type Contract Step into a critical support role in the cardiovascular operating room, working alongside expert surgical teams to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment. In this contract opportunity, you'll support both scheduled and emergency surgical procedures with a focus on CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest surgeries. Flexibility is key, as you may also assist in general OR procedures when cardiothoracic caseloads are low.
Schedule:
Choose from 5 eight-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts (7:00am-3:30pm or 7:00am-5:30pm) Rotating on-call shifts, 1 to 2 per week (13.5-15.5 hours each) 1 to 2 weekends per month (24-hour Saturday and Sunday call)
Qualifications:
Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSTSA) Active BLS certification Extensive experience in cardiovascular OR, including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic procedures Proficiency with sterile technique and surgical scrubbing Ability to adapt and assist in general OR as needed Strong team orientation and communication skills
Responsibilities:
Uphold strict sterile technique before and during procedures Prepare supplies, instruments, and equipment in line with specific case requirements Accurately count and maintain surgical items (sponges, needles, instruments) for patient safety Anticipate surgeon needs by providing instruments, sutures, and other items promptly Support direct patient care by assisting with gowning, draping, retracting, suctioning, and specimen handling Monitor the surgical environment and communicate potential safety hazards Collaborate with the surgical team for efficient case turnover and high standards of infection control Become an essential part of the surgical team and help deliver exceptional care to patients undergoing critical cardiovascular procedures.
