Memorial Hospital - FREEPORT, IL 61032 Apply Overview Salary Range $16.20 - $26.73 Hourly Position Type Full-time; F.9 (72) Job Shift Nights Apply Description Job Summary The Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring the rhythms and detecting dysrhythmias of the patients that are being monitored with the Telemetry equipment. This person is also responsible for reporting any abnormalities in cardiac rhythm to the Nursing staff. General unit secretarial duties are expected during the shift as well. Job Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Monitors cardiac rhythm on Telemetry screen. Prints and Interprets rhythm strips for all patients being monitored. Evaluates the patient's baseline rhythm and notes any changes. Communicates effectively any changes in the patient's rhythm. Completes monitor report for other floors. Sets alarm settings and determines alarm changes Ensures the supply of rhythm paper, monitors etc. is adequate; restocking of supplies rooms and Pyxis. Cleans the monitors after usage, utilizing the appropriate solutions. Obtains monitors from other floors when discontinued. Places orders when following protocol or during downtime. Manages the Medical Records Clerical duties related to the admission and discharge of patients. Answers phones, transfers calls appropriately. Responds to customer requests/concerns, assists visitors or patients that may come to the desk, answers call lights. Other If an individual possesses certification as a CNA, duties and responsibilities of a CNA maybe assigned as needed. Displays competency for the care support role as evidenced in the annual performance appraisal following the
FHN PRIDE
Standards. Effectively communicates with others to ensure information is received and understanding occurs.
Qualifications Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Completion of Monitor Technician class within the first 6 months of hire. Passing of Monitor Technician test with grade of 90% or better within 1 month of class.

Examples of Problem Solving or Decision Making This position requires the ability to remain focused and to maintain concentration over a period of time. It also requires the ability to make quick decisions for reporting patient condition changes with minimal supervision. The interpretation of an abnormal rhythm requires immediate intervention by the Monitor Technician. The position also requires problem solving regarding poor tracings, capturing rhythms in different leads, pacemakers and battery changes for the telemetry packs. Examples of Meeting Deadlines Completion of Monitor Technician class within the first 6 months of hire and passing of Monitor Technician test with grade of 90% or better within 1 month of class. This is an annual requirement thereafter. This position requires generating a monitor report every 8 hours for each patient. Populations Served While performing this job, the employee may care for patients in the following age groups.
Adolescent:
13 to 60 years Serves patients in areas other than patient care. While performing this job, the employee does not care for patients in the following age groups.
Neonate:
