Summary:
Under supervision of an RN , the Cardiac Telemetry Tech assists with clinical care by monitoring and recording cardiac rhythms .
Responsibilities:
Documents and interprets patient's heart rhythm and rate by utilizing telemetry recordings. Identifies patient arrhythmias/abnormalities or significant changes from baseline and reports changes immediately to the assigned nurse. Alerts nursing staff in the event of arrhythmias/abnormalities or significant changes from baseline . Issues telemetry equipment to patients newly admitted to unit. Maintains inventory of and tracks issued equipment . Coordinates with outside vendor support to maintain and service telemetry equipment . Track s and ensur es continuity of telemetry, recording patient leaving unit or disconnecting leads and working to ensure effective return to measurement. Ensures patient safety at all times by notifying the charge nurse of any risk factors seen initiating and maintaining appropriate safety measures as outlined in policies and procedures. Inputs clinical documentation and charges into electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Monitor Technician orientation/skills checklist , which inc lude s an annual EKG competency test.
