This role provides ultrasound diagnostic tests for patients. Also assists with direction of workflow for other ultrasound techs in collaboration with Lead Physician and Team Leader
QUALIFICATIONS
High school/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduation from a school of Radiology Technology or Nursing. Minimum of six months Ultrasonigraphic experience or graduation from an AMA approved program in Ultrasonography with certification in diagnostic ultrasound. Fetal echo accreditation and board certification preferred. AUIM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine), CRT (Certified Radiology Technologist, ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) or RN (Registered Nurse) license. RDMS (Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonography) preferred.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology to pinpoint area of imaging. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in operating ultrasound equipment. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to identify, monitor and assign workflows. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in collaboration with Lead Physician and Team Leader to monitor ultrasound tech workflows Report any questions or concerns to Lead Physician and/or Team Leader as appropriate Perform ultrasound scan on patients as per normal procedure. Maintain ultrasound equipment and order and stock all ultrasound supplies. Download and log ultrasound machines. Review ultrasound cleaning logs on a timely basis. Review Citex probe log timely. Keep work area clean. Attend required meetings. Participate in staff development, educational activities and maintain current certifications and accreditations (including American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and Fetal Echo Accreditation and Board Certification). Request assistance with placing patients, etc., as needed.
