Position Details Job Title Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Type Full-Time Location Ultrasound Salary $32.00 - $55.00 per hour Job Description Performs diagnostic Ultrasound imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their Ultrasound exam. Participates in CQI activities. Roles & Responsibilities Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, and burns. Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. Responsible for the safe handling of equipment and electronic images. Positions patients accordingly. Operates complex ultrasound equipment pertinent to department needs. Calibrates, adjusts and maintains ultrasound equipment. Keeps records on all service calls for equipment, what service was done, what parts were replaced or repaired and other related information on equipment. Practices medical and surgical asepsis. Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations. Keeps procedure room clean and neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed. Assists in maintaining basic records and reports. Assists in maintaining files. Interacts professionally with patient/family. Has knowledge of facility policies and the functions of other departments. Maintains order and cleanliness of equipment and ultrasound area; maintains adequate supplies. Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient. Performs other job-related duties as requested. Correlates clinical history with the test to be performed; consults with referring physician regarding patient's previous history and decision of appropriate ultrasound procedures required. Qualifications & Skills High school graduate or equivalent required. BS/AS degree preferred. Graduation from an AMA approved school of
Ultrasound Technology:
either college affiliated, or hospital trained. Current BLS certification within 90-days of hire. Proof of ARDMS, Sonography ARRT certification within 2 years of hire. Contact KVHD Administration if extension is required. One-year Ultrasound experience preferred. Demonstrates understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, positioning. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Strong interpersonal communication skills Basic computer knowledge Ability to operate Ultrasound equipment and stereotactic localization devices.
