The Clinic Sonographer plays a vital role in providing specialized, compassionate care to patients and families throughout their Maternal-Fetal Medicine experience.
This position performs advanced ultrasound examinations and procedures, using specialized equipment to provide detailed fetal evaluations in real time. The sonographer partners closely with physicians and the clinical team to support complex patient care, assist with procedures, and provide technical expertise. Through patient education, clear communication, and compassion, the sonographer helps families feel informed, supported, and cared for during what can be an emotional and stressful time.

Responsibilities
Perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including transabdominal/transvaginal, detailed fetal evaluations, fetal echocardiography, nuchal translucency, multiple gestations, and fetal Doppler studies.
Evaluate fetal anatomy, growth, and potential anomalies in collaboration with Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians.
Perform maternal abdominal and pelvic ultrasound evaluations, including assessment of the adnexa, kidneys, liver, and gallbladder.
Provide compassionate, patient-centered care by clearly explaining procedures and supporting patients and families throughout their examinations.
Assist MFM physicians with complex patient histories, case presentations, technical interpretation of examinations, and invasive fetal procedures.
Maintain sterile technique and appropriate infection prevention practices during procedures.
Provide patient and family education while performing real-time fetal evaluations, recognizing and responding compassionately to potentially stressful or high-risk situations.
Train and support new ultrasound technologists and assist with education of students, residents, and other healthcare team members.
Demonstrate flexibility by accommodating urgent/add-on examinations and traveling to outreach clinics as needed.
Assist with safe patient transfers, positioning, and transportation while maintaining awareness of department operations and organizational expectations.
Qualifications
Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by CAAHEP
Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
2-3 years of related work experience
Registered or eligible for certification by ARDMS in Obstetrics/Gynecology
Fetal Echocardiography certification or willingness to obtain certification shortly after hire
Nuchal Translucency & Nasal Bone Certification required after one year in the office
Mandatory Reporter certification
CPR certification
Valid driver's license when driving for work-related purposes
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Compassionate, respectful, and professional demeanor
Strong computer skills and proficiency in 3D/4D ultrasound
