FULL TIME - DAYS
The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body's internal structures.
Obstetric Ultrasound:
Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy.
Abdominal Ultrasound:
Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas.
Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities.
Vascular Ultrasound:
Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound:
Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections.
Job Description:
An ultrasound technologist (also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer) plays a critical role in a hospital setting by performing diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment. Here's a detailed breakdown of their responsibilities: Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation under the direction of Director of Radiology and Radiologist.
Assist Radiologist with patient during examinations and procedures.
Participates in CQI activities and provides input for improvement.
Replenish supplies.
Assures safe operation and daily maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
Must pass initial competency test and yearly competency testing thereafter.
Occasionally performs duties of Staff Radiologic Technologist and assumes other duties as necessary, assigned by the Director of Radiology.
Must maintain current BLS.
Essential Qualifications:
Must be a Radiologic Technologist with a current Kentucky certification
Must be a registered ultrasound technologist (ARDMS) or be registry eligible
BLS required.
