Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Small Animal & Exotics Veterinarian (Licensed DVMs ONLY) to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal health and welfare, with comprehensive experience in small animal and exotic pet medicine. This role offers an opportunity to provide exceptional veterinary care for a diverse patient population, including dogs, cats, and various exotic species. The veterinarian will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of medical conditions while adhering to the highest standards of veterinary practice and ethical guidelines. Duties Perform thorough examinations and diagnose health issues in small animals and exotic pets, utilizing veterinary terminology and clinical knowledge. Administer general anesthesia and monitor patients during surgical procedures, ensuring animal safety through aseptic techniques and critical care protocols. Conduct surgical procedures including soft tissue surgeries, spays, neuters, and specialized interventions as needed. Manage emergency cases with prompt decision-making, providing critical & intensive care to stabilize patients effectively. Utilize laboratory equipment and diagnostic tools to perform tests such as blood work, radiography, and laboratory analyses for accurate diagnosis. Apply expertise in animal restraint, handling, and husbandry to ensure safe interactions with diverse species including dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, and small mammals. Collaborate with team members on internal medicine cases such as cardiology, oncology, and animal physiology to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Follow clinical ethical guidelines while communicating treatment options clearly to pet owners and ensuring compassionate animal care. Experience Proven veterinary experience with a focus on small animal medicine; experience with exotic species is highly desirable, but NOT required Strong background in anesthesia administration, surgical procedures, emergency medicine, and critical care management. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy knowledge, and laboratory diagnostics. Experience in handling a variety of animals including dogs through pet grooming techniques and animal catheterization procedures. Knowledge of internal medicine disciplines such as cardiology and oncology; proficiency in aseptic techniques is essential. Prior exposure to equine or other exotic animal experience is a plus but not mandatory. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within clinical ethical guidelines while maintaining high standards of animal husbandry and pet care.
