About Us South 40 Equine is a progressive, ambulatory-focused practice with a haul in base providing high-quality equine care across the Brazos Valley. Our caseload blends sports medicine and performance horse care with essential general practice services, allowing our veterinarians to build strong client relationships while practicing well-rounded medicine. Position Overview We are seeking a Mobile Equine Veterinarian with an interest in serving the horse in a sports medicine, lameness, and general practice . This position offers a diverse caseload including performance horse evaluations alongside routine health and preventative care. The ideal candidate is confident in imaging and lameness diagnostics, and enjoys working independently in the field, enjoys variety in their day-to-day work, and values teamwork and both advanced diagnostics and foundational equine medicine. Responsibilities Perform performance evaluations and sports medicine Develop diagnostic imaging/anesthetic plans and implement treatment/rehabilitation plans Provide routine ambulatory care including: Vaccinations and preventative care Dental floats and oral exams Coggins testing and health certificates Basic medical and minor emergency cases Utilize diagnostic tools such as endoscopy, digital radiography and ultrasound Perform joint injections and other therapeutic procedures Client education in preventative care, performance management, and treatment options Maintain accurate and timely medical records for your cases Participate in rounds, case discussions Participate in shared on-call/after-hours coverage as needed Qualifications DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school Licensed for practice in Texas Interest in both equine sports medicine and general ambulatory practice Strong communication and client relationship development skills Ability to work independently and efficiently in a mobile setting Valid driver's license and clean driving record Preferred Experience Equine Internship or equivalent experience in equine practice Experience with lameness diagnostics, imaging, and dentistry ISELP or equivalent Equine Ultrasound Skillset What We Offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience Production-based bonus opportunities Fully equipped veterinary truck with Bay Horse Body $5,000 Continuing education allowance per year, 401K with matching, Medical Insurance Practice Ownership Opportunities - Grow with us!
