Job Description
Overview Cypress Run Golf Club is seeking a motivated, professional, and service-oriented individual to join our golf operations team as an Assistant Golf Professional. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for the golf industry, enjoy building relationships with members and guests, and bring a positive, team-first attitude to the workplace. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual who is enrolled—or prepared to enroll—in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program and wants to continue developing a career as a PGA of America Golf Professional. The Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Head Golf Professional and golf operations team to provide an exceptional member and guest experience while assisting with golf shop operations, tournaments, instruction, merchandising, practice facilities, and daily play. Experience Required Qualifications Previous experience in golf operations, customer service, retail, tournament administration, or a private club environment is preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and customer-service skills. Working knowledge of the Rules of Golf, tournament operations, golf handicapping, and golf shop procedures. Ability to provide golf instruction or a strong desire to develop as an instructor. Basic golf club repair knowledge is preferred. Ability to work independently while also contributing positively as part of a team. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Professional appearance, dependable work habits, and a positive attitude. Must be enrolled in, or willing to enroll in, the PGA Professional Golf Management Program. Must actively pursue the requirements of PGA membership and maintain an active classification with the PGA of America. Essential Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service, professional advice, and assistance to members and their guests. Greet members and guests and help create a welcoming, professional golf experience. Control and manage daily play, including guest check-in, fee collection, starting procedures, and pace-of-play management. Assist with the daily operation and management of the practice facility. Provide individual golf instruction, group lessons, and clinics consistent with the Club's instructional standards, policies, and procedures. Assist the Head Golf Professional with supervising, scheduling, and training golf shop personnel. Assist with merchandise purchasing, receiving, displaying, inventory control, promotion, and sales. Complete daily golf shop policies, procedures, opening duties, closing duties, and operational tasks. Perform basic golf club repair and maintenance. Administer and assist members with the Club's handicap program. Assist with the planning, preparation, administration, scoring, and execution of Club tournaments, member events, outings, and outside golf events. Remain knowledgeable about and actively promote all Club activities, programs, events, amenities, and services. Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and inviting golf shop environment. Conduct oneself professionally and maintain a polished professional image at all times. Assist in other areas of the golf operation as needed and demonstrate a team-first, "whatever it takes" attitude.
