Job Description
We are looking to recruit a full-time or part-time production baker for our busy bakery and café. Prior restaurant (baking and/or management) experience necessary. Flexible schedule with weekend and overnight availability is highly preferred. Salary is negotiable based on experience. Baker responsibilities include making breads, pies, pastries, and soups.
Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis. Responsibilities Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, cookies and sweet rolls Have full pastry selection ready by store open time Bake different bread types: baguettes and multigrain breads Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking Prepare doughs for next day Skills Sense of urgency and good work ethic a must. Previous experience in a bakery or kitchen preferred Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters Understanding of food safety practices Excellent time-management skills Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude Flexibility to work early morning shifts and evening shifts About us We are an independently owned bakery and café started in 1982. Located in historic Woods Hole, at the end of the Bike Path; just a 1 minute walk from the Martha's Vineyard ferry terminal, Pie in the Sky Bakery & Internet Café is open 7 days a week. We feature a delicious assortment of handmade croissants, pies, cookies, popovers, and breads, all baked from scratch on the premises. Our coffees, espresso, and cocoa drinks are made from freshly ground, 100% Organic & Fair Trade Dean's Beans that we roast ourselves. Our hearty, made to order sandwiches together with our homemade soups, quiche, and salads make the perfect addition to any adventure, from a shore side picnic to lunch at the office.
