HBG is a small independent, female run bakery specializing in cakes, cake pops, cupcakes, brownies, and other sweet treats. Previously experience in cake decorating is required for the position. The initial schedule will typically run 5 shifts per week and would be approximately 25-27 hours/week. However the successful candidate will have the ability to accommodate additional hours to fit with the needs of the business, including during holidays and busy months. Base pay is $18/Hour + Tips. The schedule would be Wednesday-Sunday from 7AM-12PM, with additional hours during the week as needed. This is a back-of-house position focused on decorating cakes from scratch from start to finish (stacking, piping, decorating, and packaging). Team members are also responsible for cleaning down work surfaces, floors, and washing equipment at the end of their shift, organizing existing and upcoming orders, decorating cakes for the store front, occasionally answering phone calls, and opening the shop.

Have a great attitude and team-player energy; Have excellent customer service skills; Are problem solvers and able to think on their feet; Are focused on quality; Must be 18 years of age or older; Have a Valid WA Driver's License and form of transport; Have a Valid WA Food Handler's Permit; Previous experience at a bakery, restaurant, or foodservice environment is a plus; Must be willing to work some non-major and major holidays.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
Follows HBG proprietary cake production methods with precision; Good cake decorating skills with American style buttercream; Working with fruit curds, chocolate ganache, and caramel; Buttercream tinting, piping and texturing; Keep kitchen clean and organized; Keep packaging materials fully stocked, prepped, and organized. Re-stock ingredients when needed; Taking inventory and providing that information to the rest of the team; Packaging prepared products; Assist in opening or closing the store; Keep food display freshly stocked and clean; Package pre-orders and have ready for customer pick up/delivery times; Completing occasional customer deliveries; Organizing upcoming and existing orders; Opening up the shop as needed in the morning (by 10AM).
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience at a bakery, restaurant, or foodservice environment; Outstanding customer service skills; Proactive mindset and ability to prevent and spot errors/maintain high level of quality; Strong time management skills and a sense of urgency; Strong organizational skills and high level of cleanliness; Possesses the discipline and attention to detail to strictly adhere to health and safety practices and work environment standards; Goes above and beyond to support the team, and is reliable, trustworthy and responsive.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB NEEDS
Most of the time is spent moving about frequently. There may be a need to occasionally undertake additional movements, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Applicants must have the ability to lift 50lb bags of flour and sugar, and stand for extended periods of time.
