We are a full service bicycle shop and local coffee destination in the heart of Dunedin. The Cafe is open from 8am - 4pm daily. We also serve beer, wine and local pastries. Responsibilities Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, beer, wine and pastries ensuring quality and presentation standards are met. Handle retail sales transactions accurately using Lightspeed POS system, processing cash and credit cards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food handling, beverage service stations, and seating areas, adhering to food safety standards. Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests warmly, taking orders promptly, and addressing any special requests or dietary needs. Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling baked goods or light snacks to complement beverage offerings. Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure quick service without compromising quality. Follow all food safety protocols and proper hygiene practices to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers. Requirements Previous barista experience or food service background is preferred; familiarity with café operations is a plus. Knowledge of POS systems such as Lightspeed POS or general POS operations is highly desirable. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and giving correct change. Ability to stand for extended periods while maintaining energy and enthusiasm throughout shifts. Experience in food handling, beverage preparation, and maintaining cleanliness standards in a food industry setting. Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during peak hours. Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one upon hire is preferred. We are a long standing business here in Dunedin and would love a committed long term team member. Full time hours are also a possibility if interested.
