Banquet Server Position Summary The Banquet Server is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to guests during banquets, meetings, weddings, conferences, and other special events. The ideal candidate is professional, personable, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent guest service standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Set up banquet rooms, tables, chairs, linens, place settings, glassware, and service stations according to event specifications. Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service throughout the event. Serve food and beverages efficiently and courteously, following established service standards. Assist with plated meals, buffet service, cocktail receptions, and other banquet functions. Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and beverage offerings when applicable. Clear and reset tables throughout the event while minimizing disruption to guests. Monitor guest needs and respond promptly to requests. Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas. Replenish food, beverages, china, glassware, and other supplies as needed. Assist with breakdown and cleanup following events. Follow all hotel, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. Communicate effectively with Banquet Captains, Supervisors, Culinary staff, and other team members. Handle guest concerns professionally and notify a supervisor when additional assistance is required. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Previous banquet, restaurant, hotel, catering, or hospitality experience preferred. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, and transport trays, banquet equipment, and supplies as required. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event-based shifts. Dependable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds as required by the position. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the banquet/event space. Ability to safely carry trays, dishes, glassware, and other service equipment. Preferred Skills Prior luxury hotel or high-volume banquet experience. Knowledge of formal banquet and plated meal service. Familiarity with buffet and cocktail reception service. Ability to provide polished service in upscale and five-star environments. Strong attention to detail and guest-service orientation. Work Environment This position operates in a fast-paced hotel, resort, catering, or event environment. Banquet Servers may work indoors or outdoors depending on the event and may be required to work extended shifts, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on event needs.
