$17.13 / hr. minimum wage base wage + tips ($25
  • $28/hr.
with tips based on actual wages from the past several months).
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Olalla Bay Market & Landing is a family-owned and operated, community-focused business located in beautiful downtown Olalla. The property includes a retail store, pizza/sandwich restaurant, public meeting space and museum. Across all areas of our business, our goal is to help provide a space for people to gather and make memories to last a lifetime.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Café Crew Members (age 21+) are specifically responsible for welcoming guests into the market, taking orders, explaining the menu and preparing espresso drinks, serving pastries, soup and pretzels, and serving wine and beer by the glass. A typical opening shift might start with opening up the market
  • setting up the till, turning on equipment, putting out pastries, etc.
  • welcoming in customers, making coffee, warming pastries, operating the register.
As we move into late morning, pouring and serving beer, making mimosas while continuing to attend to coffee orders. Our closing team is responsible for shutting down and cleaning equipment, putting away food prep items, restocking service supplies, cleaning the dining area, bathrooms and floors. During periods of downtime, candidates are expected to perform cleaning tasks such as wiping down tables, taking dirty dishes back to the kitchen, checking/cleaning bathrooms and tidying retail merchandise throughout the market, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Process cash, debit and credit transactions using a point of sale system; 2. Process returns and scan items for sale; 3. Prepare and serve orders including beverages such as draft beer, wine, coffee and espresso; 4. Prepare food orders such as heating pretzels and pastries; 5. Help maintain adequate stock of all product and materials required to maintain a smooth customer experience; 6. Prepare dining room for service and help maintain a clean and sanitary environment by sweeping, mopping, wiping down, clearing and sanitizing tables, monitoring and tidying bathrooms as needed or as assigned; 7. Monitor and maintain the supply of utensils, napkins and condiments at self serve counter; 8. Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies; 9. Help patrons select food and beverages by speaking to menu when asked; suggesting menu items; explaining seasonal specials; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions; 10. Properly shutting down and cleaning key equipment related to assigned shift, such as espresso machine; 11. Supporting back of house activities when assigned such as ingredient prep, dish washing, etc.; 12. Speaking to general Olalla history, when applicable; 13. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 6 months to one year experience making coffee;
  • Updated food service card (to be provided before 1st shift);
  • Current (or ability to secure) a MAST Class 12 permit (must be 21+) prior to first shift.

  • Tips are split equally across all hourly staff and related to transactions that occurring during your shift;
  • All tips (cash and credit) are included on weekly paychecks.
