Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as an Equine Barn Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment for our horses and hospital operations. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with and care for our equine patients and support the daily functions of a thriving and growing equine facility. Your hands-on approach and mechanical skills will ensure that all equipment and facilities are operating smoothly, fostering a healthy environment for both animals and staff. Duties Assist with daily animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, and health monitoring of horses Maintain cleanliness of stalls, paddocks, barns, and surrounding areas to promote safety and hygiene standards Operate farm equipment such as tractors, forklifts, irrigation systems, and power tools safely and efficiently Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm machinery and equipment mechanical troubleshooting Grounds Maintenance, including mowing and trimming Assist with pasture management and any repairs on property Follow safety protocols during heavy lifting, manual handling, and operation of heavy equipment to prevent accidents Recovery of surgical patients Experience Proven experience in equine care with a strong focus on equine handling skills (Minimum of one to two years confident handling experience required) Previous experience in an equine hospital is preferred but not required for candidates with strong professional horse-handling experience. Comfortable leading, haltering, tying and safely moving horses from trailers and stalls throughout the facility. Daily feeding, watering, haying and general horse care Comfortable working around veterinarians, technicians, clients and hospitalized horses Able to follow specific feeding, treatments, isolations, and biosecurity instructions. Hands-on experience operating machinery such as tractors, mowers, trimmers Team Player and able to communicate effectively regarding daily duties Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, maintenance and general farm machinery Capable of lifting ~50lbs, handling feed, hay, pushing wheelbarrows and performing barn work Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions Must be dependable . Able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as/if you are scheduled. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team. Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
