Job Summary The food and beverage serving employee will be primarily responsible for taking orders and serving food and beverages to patrons at tables in a dining establishment. In addition to the hourly wage, bartenders receive a five percent tip out from each server on sales and keep their own personal tips. Work Tasks Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for patrons. Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages. Assist host or hostess by answering phones to take to-go orders. Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request. Take orders from patrons for food or beverages. Serve food or beverages to patrons. Greet guests and help seat guests when needed. Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems. Collect payments from customers. Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining. Sanitize glasses. Ensure that the pub shelves and the bar cooler stay stocked with necessary items to prepare drinks. Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up the pub, and taking out trash. Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, select appetizers, and portioning desserts.
