Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a reliable, customer focused Nutritional Services Aide to support our cafeteria and food service operations. The Nutritional Services Aide plays a vital role in supporting Fairfield Memorial Hospital's food service operations by preparing, serving, and maintaining high‑quality meals for patients, visitors, and staff. This position ensures safe food handling, accurate meal tracking, and a clean, welcoming cafeteria environment. The role requires strong attention to detail, consistent adherence to food safety standards, and a commitment to delivering friendly, professional customer service. The Nutritional Services Aide contributes directly to FMH's mission by helping create a positive dining experience and supporting the overall well‑being of those we serve.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Take and fill food orders promptly and accurately; portion and serve food according to established standards; ensure all food items are presented neatly and safely. Take and record food temperatures following the department's preset schedule; immediately report any temperature variances; follow all safe food handling procedures, including proper storage, labeling, and rotation. Ring up café sales accurately; handle cash, credit, and employee charges responsibly; maintain the cash register area in a clean and organized manner; follow FMH cash‑handling protocols. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and well‑stocked café throughout the shift; restock food, beverages, utensils, and supplies; clean counters, equipment, and dining areas; complete end‑of‑shift cleaning and restocking tasks. Provide friendly, professional, and courteous service to patients, visitors, and staff; respond to questions and requests with patience and respect; uphold FMH's Standards for Service Excellence in all interactions. Answer the telephone as needed; take messages or relay information accurately; communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors. Maintain dependable attendance; use sick and personal time appropriately; demonstrate reliability in fulfilling scheduled shifts and supporting department needs. Assist coworkers and support additional duties as assigned; work other shifts when needed; contribute positively to a team‑oriented environment. Report any incidents of workplace violence involving staff, patients, or visitors to the Supervisor, Human Resources, Administration, and Director of Plant Operations promptly and accurately.
COMPENSATION
$15.00-$22.00 per hour

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Prior food service or customer service experience; Basic understanding of safe food handling practices.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
Experience in a cafeteria, restaurant, or customer‑facing environment; Experience with cash handling or point‑of‑sale systems. Understands and follows safe food handling practices, temperature monitoring procedures, and sanitation requirements. Accurately operates a cash register, processes transactions, and handles money responsibly. Follows schedules, records temperatures accurately, and maintains clean, organized work areas. Works cooperatively with others, supports department needs, and contributes to a positive work environment. Demonstrates dependable attendance, punctuality, and consistency in fulfilling assigned duties.
