Do you have your weekday afternoons and weekends free? Come work for the City of Elk River at our Community Event Center! Seeking customer service and hospitality minded candidates for the position of Cafe Worker to prepare and sell food and beverage items, handle money, clean work/dining areas and equipment, and serve the public. This is a great start for someone making a career in the food/hospitality industry! Looking for candidates to work weekly hours starting in the afternoon, along with weekend shifts. 2026 Salary range is $14-16/hr. Part-time benefits may be limited to Earned Sick and Safe Time . N/A Position Summary The Cafe Worker performs a variety of duties including preparing and selling food and beverage items, handling money and making change, and keeping the facility clean. Essential Functions Provides customer service and maintenance and security of facilities and equipment. Prepares and serves food to customers in a polite and professional manner. Performs routine cleaning of equipment. Notifies Facility Maintenance Manager of any repairs and/or maintenance requiring attention from a service contractor. Monitors and maintains security of the facilities when working Performs financial activities. Rings up sales, receipts payments, gives change, etc. Maintains change/refund fund in accordance with jurisdiction. Coordinates the receipt and money. Performs other essential job duties. Regular and timely work attendance. Follows all safety procedures. Participates in safety training. Follow all policies and procedures. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to work independently and assume responsibilities with minimal direct supervision. Skill to communicate effectively with a variety of groups. Ability to operate a cash register, accurately count and record cash received. Ability to present a positive and professional image of the City to the public. Ability to follow all City safety policies. Minimum Qualifications Experience handling money. Experience dealing with the public. Preferred Qualifications At least sixteen (16) years old. Physical Requirements On a continuous basis, must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time. On a frequent basis, must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel and to perform custodial duties. On an occasional frequent basis must be able to lift 20 pounds from floor to waist and have the ability to carry it over 25 feet. On an occasional basis must be able to lift 10 pounds over head. On occasional basis, must be able to climb a step ladder.

Shifts that are available are weekday afternoons and evenings, along with all shifts on Saturdays and Sundays. This Position Description is not intended to be all-inclusive. It is within the City of Elk River's discretion to assign additional duties and responsibilities or remove duties and responsibilities at any time. This Position Description does not constitute a Contract of Employment.
