About the RoleThe Food Service Worker at Kingfisher Jr Sr High School plays a vital role in ensuring that students and staff receive nutritious, safe, and appealing meals throughout the school day. This position involves preparing, serving, and maintaining food items in compliance with health and safety standards, contributing to a positive dining experience. The role requires close attention to sanitation practices to uphold a clean and safe environment in the kitchen and serving areas. The Food Service Worker collaborates with team members to efficiently manage meal service during busy periods while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this position supports the school's mission to promote healthy eating habits and well-being among its community.

Job ResponsibilitiesPrepare and serve meals and snacks according to established menus and portion sizes.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas in compliance with health regulations.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while demonstrating manual dexterity in food handling tasks.

Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to ensure freshness and minimize waste.

Engage courteously with students and staff, providing prompt and friendly service during meal times.

Minimum QualificationsAbility to understand and communicate effectively in English.Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.

Capability to stand for extended periods during meal preparation and service.

Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in a food service or cafeteria environment.

Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).Familiarity with school nutrition programs and regulations.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Basic knowledge of inventory management and kitchen equipment operation.

SkillsThe required skills such as understanding and speaking English are essential for clear communication with team members and students, ensuring smooth service and adherence to instructions. Manual dexterity is critical for handling food items safely and efficiently, as well as operating kitchen tools and equipment. The ability to stand for long periods supports the physical demands of meal preparation and service during busy school hours.
