POSITION SUMMARY

Performs various cashier duties involving collecting funds, issuing receipts and daily balancing cash drawer. Assists in setting up for cafeteria service. Serves cafeteria line. Performs a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food; cleans kitchen area and cooking utensils. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital's customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES 1.

The food service worker demonstrates working knowledge of meal service, providing quality food service to patients, staff, and guests. 2. The food service worker handles cash transactions accurately and efficiently. 3. The food service worker demonstrates a working knowledge of general sanitation and infection control and safety. 4. The food service worker follows all departmental policies and procedures as outlined for dish machine usage. 5. The food service worker maintains a safe and sanitary work environment. 6. The food service worker demonstrates commitment to standards of job performance. 7. The food service worker demonstrates commitment to standards set by Federal, State and Local Agencies. 8. The food service worker demonstrates knowledge through compliance with all hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and procedures. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education Minimum formal education through the Junior High Level. Ability to speak, read, and write English. Food Handlers Certificate required within 60 days of hire date and must be kept current every two years.

Skills:

Other Experience in a healthcare food service setting preferred. Experience on cash register, calculator preferred. Physical Demands Prolonged standing/walking. Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 30 lbs.) Heavy cleaning, mopping, sweeping, bending. Pushing loaded tray delivery carts. Working Conditions Will work in kitchen, cafeteria, patient care hallways, trash disposal area. Subject to burns and cuts. Exposed to hazards of steam and heat. Exposed to heat, wetness, odors in kitchen and patient areas. Exposed to varying degrees of kitchen elements. Potential exposure to body fluids. Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, and mixers. Must be available to work weekends.
