Part Time, 6-18 hours per week

Compensation:

$20.00-$25 per hour, commensurate with experience. Tips add an additional ~$5/hour to wage. Who We Are Coyote's is a little community-oriented market in the heart of Carpinteria. Our focus is celebrating local producers and sustainable practices. We're here to connect our community with thoughtfully sourced meat and seafood, as well as locally-crafted pantry goods and kitchenwares. The owners are a husband and wife team looking to curate a small but passionate group of staff members who care deeply about our products and our community. Who You Are We're seeking a counter person with a passion for our local food systems. We're looking for someone with the following attributes: -Passionate about local, sustainable meat and seafood. Excited to grow your knowledge about the practices of the ranches and fishermen who we work with. - Experience working with local meat, seafood, or produce. This could mean prior work history at a fish market, butcher shop, deli, specialty grocery store,farm, farmers market, etc. -You are a people person who enjoys interacting with customers, and educating them about our offerings. Responsibilities Learn details about our meat, seafood, and grocery department items. Understand our sourcing practices and our producers. Open and close shop daily, working independently. Keep shop neat and stocked throughout the course of your shift. Speak confidently with customers about our products. Handle meat & seafood safely. Work in tandem with our back of house team to keep meat & seafood case, and merchandising refrigerators stocked.

Position Requirements You must:

Be available to work weekends as needed Be fluent in English Hold a current California Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire) Have a base knowledge of meat/seafood preparation and cuts Proven ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation Physical Requirements This position requires standing for extended periods, repetitive hand/arm movements, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, working in both refrigerated and heated environments, and maintaining focus during busy periods.
